Claire & Glen’s Timeless Stamford Wedding

Oh my goodness, what a day this was! Honestly, it was one of those end-of-summer mornings where the sun has that golden glow, and you just know something magical is about to happen. It couldn’t have been more perfect for Claire and Glen’s wedding in Stamford.

The day started at The William Cecil Hotel, in Stamford, where Claire was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The bridal suite there is stunning – all calm and light, with its own private garden. When I arrived, the room was so chilled. Laughter, makeup brushes, hair curling, and that lovely buzz of excitement you can feel when something special’s about to happen. Claire slipped into her wedding dress, and honestly, she took everyone’s breath away. The fabric moved so softly as she walked, her gold heels peeking out underneath, and then that cathedral-length veil… wow. She looked every bit the elegant bride.

Meanwhile, over at Normanton Church, Glen and his groomsmen were welcoming guests. That church, sitting right on Rutland Water, is just beautiful – there’s something so timeless about it. The aisle was lined with seasonal flowers, and with family and friends gathered, the atmosphere was just so warm. Glen’s two brothers had made long journeys to be there – one all the way from Scotland and the other from New Zealand – which made it even more special.

Claire arrived in the most gorgeous vintage 1950s Jaguar Royale, with her dad proudly by her side. You could almost feel everyone holding their breath as she walked down the aisle. The ceremony was heartfelt, with two unique readings – one from Glen’s brother and another from a close friend – making it really personal to them. And when they finally said “I do,” you could see how much it meant to everyone in the room.

Afterwards, the new Mr and Mrs snuck off for a little walk around the outside of Normanton church, taking in the view over Rutland. Water and a few quiet moments together. It was a bit windy out by Rutland Water, but honestly, it just added to the atmosphere – hair blowing, dress swishing, and those gorgeous views.

Then it was back to Stamford for the reception at The William Cecil. Guests were greeted in the gardens with drinks and canapés, the late summer sun shining down. There were hugs, laughter, and toasts to the happy couple – one of those moments where you just look around and see pure joy on everyone’s faces.

The wedding breakfast was held in the marquee, and it looked incredible. White linen, chandeliers hanging, and the smell of summer flowers everywhere. The cake was a showstopper too – intricate details and fresh blooms decorating the edges.

The speeches were a real highlight. Claire’s dad, Glen, and the best man all had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure. But the moment that really had us reaching for tissues was Claire’s own speech – especially her words to her new step-son and step-daughter. It was so emotional and heartfelt, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

As the evening rolled in, the party moved to the main hotel. Music filled the space, and Claire and Glen had their first dance surrounded by cheers and love. They twirled, dipped, and smiled like no one else in the room mattered – and then, of course, everyone piled onto the dance floor to join them. From there, it was an evening of laughter, dancing, and pure happiness.

A day full of love, sunshine (a little shower of rain for luck), family, and those little personal touches that make a wedding truly unforgettable. Claire and Glen, your day was just beautiful.
